Reading Update
Okay, so the Forsyte Saga has been sitting unread for about a week. So many other books were demanding my attention--I decided to cruise through them and work on them so that when I read the Forsyte Saga, it has my full attention.
I completed Deepak Chopra's Seven Spiritual Laws of Success a bit ago. Currently I am working on his Ageless Body, Timeless Mind and The Way of the Wizard.
A few days ago I completed Lawrence Block's Hit List.
Yesterday I saw Hunted. There are some good knife-fighting scenes, and Tommy Lee Jones does a pretty good job in the flick. It's worth watching a second time, that's for sure.
Last night I finished up Arturo Perez-Reverte's The Fencing Master. Great stuff! I really enjoyed it.
I have a hard time listing sports and martial arts training books for a simple reason: most of them have pictures, are specific to training or practicing specific moves, and, as instruction manuals (largely) they are hard to just "read." You look at them, you review the moves, and then you move on. Fulling engaging the text requires practicing some of the moves, and in many cases, this is not possible due to lack of partner, skill, flexibility, etc. etc. So, I've read these books but I regard them as a different kind of reading.
Royce Gracie and Charles Gracie's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Self Defense Techniques
Renzo Gracie and Royler Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Levine & Whitman Complete Krav Maga
Imi Sde-Or and Eyal Yanilov Krav Maga: How to Defend Yourself Against Armed Assault
Michael D. Echanis Basic Stick Fighting for Combat
